Factorial
1. What is factorial of a number ?
Ans. The factorial of a number "n"(It must be whole number )is defined as the value of product of 1 to that number and it is denoted by n!
Mathematically ,
n! =n(n-1)(n-2)(n-3)(n-4)...........4.3.2.1
where the symbol "." represents the product symbol ,or in other words we can see multiplication symbol .
For example :
0!=1
1!=1
2!=2
3!=3.2.1=6
4!=4.3.2.1=24
5!= 5.4.3.2.1=120
Similarly we can find the factorial of any whole numbers .
2. But sometimes we are confused that how the factorial of zero became one ,Let's proof it.
3. We can write
n! = n!
On the right hand side multiplying and dividing by (n+1) we get
n! = n!.(n+1)/(n+1)
=>n!=(n+1)!/(n+1) ........................(1)
Now put n=0 in equation (1) we get
0!=(0+1)!/0+1 =1
Therefore 0!=1 ( proved)
4. Notation of factorial is used by the symbol"!" Most commonly
5.Remember onemore thing that is ,we can find the factorial of whole numbers (including positive integers and natural numbers and zero )
